The 2nd instalment in ACA's digital only series, Virtuaca, comes from label co-founder Daniel Rincon aka NAP.

The Cueva EP consists of two tracks of Cumbia forward rhythms doused in dub and psych stylings. Made in 2022 after a move to Mexico City and heavily inspired by a historical and musical interest towards Cumbia, specifically the genre's roots in sound system culture and its contemporary merging of electronic music and digital sampling.

"Cumbia Al Sol" delivers nostalgic accordion melodies mixed with heavy dub processing and IDM sound design while "Tambor Y Piedra" is centered around a driving rhythm and distorted organ lines mixed with industrial signifiers and double time flourishes.

These digi forward compositions are Rincon's mutant love letters to the music he grew up with, as well as celebrations of his quotidian experiences of 'Musica Tropical' in one of Latin America's largest metropoles, where the lived experience of not only Cumbia, but Afro-Caribbean and Indigenous rhythms, flourish in the markets, the plazas, the streets and the oral history shared through all generations and walks of life.
